High School & College Scholarships

We offer several financial scholarships for students pursuing higher education.

Established in 1993, these scholarships honor the legacy of former SSEMC leader J.E. "Ed" Robinson. We typically award a total of 14 scholarships each spring.

Award Amount: $2,500 each.
Focus: Academic ability, financial need, and school/community activities.
Eligibility: Any high school senior whose primary residence or high school is served by Snapping Shoals EMC.

Apply for the Scholarship Online

Named in honor of former CEO Bradley K. Thomas, these scholarships recognize students who excel outside the classroom. We typically award eight scholarships each year.

Award Amount: $2,500 each.
Focus: Involvement in school and community activities is the primary consideration. Academic ability and financial need are also factors.
Eligibility: Any high school senior whose primary residence or high school is served by Snapping Shoals EMC.

Apply for the Scholarship Online

This program is a statewide competition among students representing Georgia EMCs. The selection is based primarily on academic achievement and financial need.

Award Amount: Varies. May be used for undergraduate studies at any two-year or four-year college, university, vocational, or technical school in Georgia.
Eligibility: You must reside in the household of, or be, a Snapping Shoals EMC consumer-member (electric customer) or employee.

Career & Leadership Scholarships

Interested in a hands-on career powering our community? This scholarship is designed to help those entering the skilled trade of electric line work.

Award Amount: Two (2) $3,500 scholarships awarded annually.
Purpose: Funds may be used for any lineman school program in Georgia.
Requirements: Winners must initiate school registration within one year and complete schooling within two years of the award date.

Join a long tradition of student leaders! Snapping Shoals EMC selects four outstanding high school students for an unforgettable leadership experience in the nation's capital.

The Trip: An all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., where winners join over 1,400 students from across the country. You'll visit historic sites, meet state leaders, and experience government in action.
The Scholarship: Winners also receive a $500 college scholarship (awarded when they begin college).
Eligibility: High school sophomores or juniors in our service area.
Selection: Based on scholastic record, school activities, community service, and other achievements.
