Linemen Test Skills in Competition

Snapping Shoals EMC linemen recently competed with linemen from across the state at the Georgia Lineman's Rodeo in Fort Valley.
The team of Byron Burke, Chris Harper and Randy Nixon and the team of Justin Cole, Josh Monsrud and Jared Tilson competed against 27 other teams in the journeymen division. Don Ritchey competed in the Senior Division.
Dakota Conner, Caleb Nix, Hunter Norman, John Hawkins, Cameron Leach, Dustin Kerbow, Bowen Braswell, Dustin James and Trey Eaton competed in the Apprentice Division. Conner placed second overall among 76 apprentices. Conner also placed second and third in two events. Nix placed third in an event.
Russell Nelms and Melvin Brake served as coaches while Bruce Watts, Phil Phillips, Ray Cheek, Michael Johnson and David Ford served as judges with Cody Hall assisting the judges. Bobby Fincher serves on the Georgia Lineman's Rodeo Association Committee.
The Georgia Lineman's Rodeo gives linemen an opportunity to showcase the skills that are necessary and essential to restore power in the electric utility business.
